The DOs and DON’Ts To Keep Your Office Stress-Free

September 22, 2017

< back to blog

I love my job. I love getting to wake up every day and do what I do. I love the people I work with. I even like Mondays better than Fridays!

However, just because I love working doesn’t mean my job (and your job) doesn’t come with a good deal of stress like any other job.

Recently, I saw a really good DO and DO NOT list for your office to keep stress and anxiety at bay during the day. These things can help us work healthier, smarter and increase our hustle.

DO:

FOCUS ON ONE THING AT A TIME. Streamline your work by making sure you’re not half-completing a few jobs at a time.

BREAK YOUR DAY UP. Make sure you take time every hour to stand up and walk away for a few minutes before you get back to the grind.

REMEMBER TO SNACK. A healthy snack is a great way to spend one of your breaks in the morning and one in the afternoon. It can help you get some much-needed clarity and refresh you.

DRINK SOMETHING ENERGIZING. What’s your thing? Green tea? Black coffee? Ningxia Zing? Pump up your day when you hit a slump by drinking something to give you additional energy. Natural antioxidants. Get some.

TURN ON YOUR DIFFUSER. Essential oils that you like smelling can brighten up the way your office feels. Have a special one just for your desk. I like to change up my oils throughout the day.

GET YOUR SLEEP. Make sure you’re working toward that magical 7-9 hours of sleep a night to sustain a full work day. Tough with kids, but important.

DO NOT:

MULTITASK. It turns out that multitasking isn’t actually a thing. It just makes for confused work that isn’t prioritized.

SIT IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER ALL DAY. I am so guilty of this, but it does not help your work or your health to stay sedentary all day. We must move. I have learned this the hard way.

MINDLESSLY SNACK: Again, guilty. Just ask my butt. It’s so easy to get lost in work and grab what’s easy and satisfying like sugars and garbage. Not helping us in the health and happiness department.

DRINK FAKE ENERGY: High caffeine drinks from sodas and high sugar drinks aren’t actually helping us with sustained energy. We don’t need more of that up and down feeling.

FILL THE OFFICE WITH TOXIC SCENTS: Candles and room sprays may be quick and cheap but they sure ain’t good for our bodies.

WORK ON A COMPUTER IN BED: This one will be tough for me. No electronics in bed. Eeeeek. However, if you want really good sleep, it is recommended that you not use an electronic device for 90 minutes before you go to sleep. So…

So turn on your favorite tunes that keep you focused, add your favorite blend to the diffuser (I’m all about that sacred sandalwood and tangerine right now), have a healthy snack, and grab a NingXia shot on your next break as you walk around your neighborhood once.

Use all your senses to help your day better, less stress-filled and healthier.

XOXO,

    Hey Lindsay,

I appreciate you. I appreciate the path you’ve paved. I was getting a little lost in the ‘should be’s’ and now I’m not. I’m excited again.

    Thanks for all of it,

    Mel
