5 More Ways To Practice Self Care For The Busy Momtrepreneur

April 9, 2018 by Lindsay Teague Moreno 1 Comment

Last week I wrote a post giving five ways a busy momtrepreneur can practice self care.

You can read it here: 5 Ways To Practice Self Care For The Busy Momtrepreneur.

Self care is super important when you’re running a business and raising a family.

I don’t think it’s talked about or practiced enough so I wanted to touch on this again.

Here are five MORE quick and easy ways to get self care.

  1. Stretch: You can stretch your body almost anywhere. If you’re at home, take 10-15 minutes to move through different parts of your body. If you’re out you can raise your arm over your head and take a few breaths. Switch arms and repeat. You will feel better instantly and this doesn’t take a lot of time.
  2. Write down how you’re feeling: This is a quick way to disengage from your emotions so they don’t affect your work. When bad days happen just recognize them, write down your feelings and let it go. Don’t make this super involved – a few lines will do.
  3. Change it up: Sometimes just adding a new dinner to the rotation or trying a new walking route is enough to break that autopilot feeling we get stuck in. Of course, you can go big and change your hair color or get a new lipstick too!
  4. Declutter one space: Pick an area of your house and get rid of a few things. Clean up and put things where they belong. For me this always starts in my office. A clean workspace is a great way to feel ready to work.
  5. Write your Monday to-do list on Sunday: I know this sounds like more work, but it feels good because as soon as you get your Monday on paper, you can forget about it and enjoy your Sunday.

I’d love to hear how you felt after trying these!

5 Ways To Practice Self Care For The Busy Momtrepreneur

April 2, 2018 by Lindsay Teague Moreno Leave a Comment

Listen, I know you’re rolling your eyes right now at the thought of incorporating self care into your day, but hear me out momtrepreneur!

I get you.

I can be the worst at this when I’m deep in a work project and trying to take care of my family and can’t remember the last time I washed my hair, let alone took a minute for myself.

Running yourself ragged.

The problem is, it catches up to you so you want to get self care in before burnout hits.

You need self care in your life. Even if you can only do the bare minimum. It’s something.

So, today I’m going to hit you with five quick and easy ways to get self care.

  1. Laugh out loud: Call a funny friend, watch a hilarious video, or let your kids rattle off knock-knock jokes. Laughter is the best medicine when it comes to a quick burst of happy!
  2. Audit your social media feeds: Are you following people who make you feel “less than?” It’s not them, it’s you and it’s time to unfollow. On the flip side you should look for new people to follow. Pick ones who you relate to and let them inspire you instead of dragging you down.
  3. Take deep breaths: This works and you can do it anywhere, including your desk when things get overwhelming. Close your eyes, if you can. Breathe in for 4 and out for 8. Repeat several times until you feel your body relaxing. Deep breathing is so good for clearing your mind and giving you space to think.
  4. Go for a 15 minute walk: Get out in your neighborhood or head to the mall when the weather isn’t nice. Anytime you can get some easy activity, you will feel a lot better.
  5. Turn off your phone: I know, I know…your phone is everything in your life right now, but 30 minutes here or there will make you feel a lot better. Try turning it off for the first 30 minutes you’re working or 30 minutes before you go to bed. Even 15-30 minutes at your lunch break will feel good after you get over the initial anxiety.

All pretty simple, right?

Pick one and try it this week. You deserve it!

XO,

3 Ways To Become A Better Leader

March 7, 2018 by Lindsay Teague Moreno 1 Comment

Most leaders want to become better, but it’s hard to know where to start.

If you have a team under you, it’s your job to create a the type of culture you want for your business.

Your people will look to you to set the precedent and take cues from your actions.

If good communication matters, you need to communicate well.

If you want everyone moving toward the same vision, you need to show them the vision and get them to buy in.

If positivity is non-negotiable, it starts with you.

Working on yourself is the best place to start when it comes to growing as a leader.

Here are 3 ways you can go first and become a better leader:

  1. Be accountable for your actions. As a leader this is probably one of the most important things you can do. It’s really easy to celebrate the good things, but are you also owning the loses? A good leader takes responsibility for when the team fails and doesn’t play the blame game. Accept that your team functions as one and you’ll find them more motivated to reach the group’s goals.
  2. Listen, listen, listen. In a leadership position, it’s easy to talk, but what we really need to be doing is listening more. Hear what your people are saying (or aren’t saying) and use that to help where it’s needed.
  3. Step outside of your comfort zone. Show your people you are willing to take risks by trying new things. A good leaders recognizes they don’t know it all and is willing to learn from others. Even those on their team who haven’t been around the longest.

I believe leadership is a learned skill, but it takes intention and action to get there. Working on yourself is the best place to start.

How To Overcome Self-Doubt As A Momtrepreneur

January 15, 2018 by Lindsay Teague Moreno 2 Comments

Self-doubt. I don’t know a woman out there who hasn’t dealt with it.

And it’s a terrible feeling, amirite?

Unfortunately, it’s one that pops up a lot for female business owners. It’s so easy to let it creep in.

I’ve got this innate desire for people to like me so, if I’m not careful, self-doubt can stop me in my tracks.

Am I working hard enough?

Is this even valuable to anyone?

What if I post this and everyone hates it?

Self-doubt can be totally paralyzing when you aren’t sure how to deal with it.

Let’s talk about some ways to overcome it:

  1. Feelings. You’ve got to feel them. I know, I know. I’m rolling my eyes at myself right now because feelings are just a no for me. But to get past this stuff you need to sit down and be honest about what you’re feeling. Ask yourself why you’re feeling this way and what is the absolute worst that happens if you’re right? Usually you will find it sounds silly and the worst is really nothing.
  2. Get to work. After you’ve taken some time with your feelings the next step is to go back to work. Put your head down and start taking small steps toward your goal. You’d be surprised how much a small sense of accomplishment makes you forget your doubts.
  3. Quit comparing yourself to her. And her. And her. I’m serious. This is the worst thing you can do to feed your self-doubt. Who cares if she is doing more, better, faster? That is not your story and it doesn’t change your journey. The hard truth is that the longer you waste watching her and comparing, the less time you have to crush your own goal. So. Stop.
  4. Talk about it. Call a friend, text a trusted business partner, sit down with your spouse. Tell them out loud what your fears are and let them giggle a little at you because it’s sounds ridiculous! After they are done giggling take any advice or support they can give.
  5. Just move forward anyway. This is a tough one, but it will make a huge difference. Get your mind off self-doubt any way you can and move forward with your work and life. Leaving those negative feelings behind will take a huge weight off your shoulders!

Listen, none of us are immune to self-doubt.

I don’t care how much success you’ve seen or how on-fire your business is right now.

It’s not easy to be vulnerable and admit we have these feelings, but it helps us all when we do.

I hope these words help you today and in the future to get rid of the self-doubt and go out and get after your dreams!

Entrepreneur Magazine Feature: How This Mom Hits 7 Figures a Month Using Social Media

December 8, 2017 by Lindsay Teague Moreno 1 Comment

Last month I sat down with Kelsey Humphreys to talk about how I created a 7-figure income using social media. I loved the interview because of the great questions she asked.

Also, I’m excited to say it was featured in Entrepreneur Magazine this week!

In the interview, I opened up about how I grew my MLM business to a 7-figure personal income, in just two short years, using social media.

Here is an excerpt from the article on how I hustled extra hard at the beginning to reach my goals:

“Hustle hard the first few years.

Moreno shared that she would open her eyes and immediately pull her laptop up onto her bed to start working. She worked as much as she could with young kids at home, and asked her husband for the ability to immediately get back to work when he got home in the evenings. “I was working 100-hour work weeks, easy. I was working that much. I’d pick my computer up in the morning, and I go to sleep at 3 a.m. I knew that I had to for these two years.”

The payoff was definitely worth it for the Morenos. Soon, she was able to bring her husband on board, and now the family has complete freedom and flexibility. Ask yourself, are you willing to go all in and all out for the first few years? Because all of my guests on The Pursuit have confirmed, that is definitely what it will take.”

And another excerpt on how I think social media should be used to attract cutomers:

“Use social media, not to find customers, but to attract them.

This is Moreno’s No. 1 piece of advice for any and all entrepreneurs and small-business owners. “Be really, really smart on social media. You can do everything faster, smarter, cheaper than ever before on social media,” She warned against the idea that social media is overused and oversatured. “If you’re really smart with it, you can build an audience that’s so captive and loves you and loves everything you do and buys everything you sell.” Her personal tactics include posting five or six fun, personal, non-business posts for every one product post she publishes. She writes posts with a conversational tone and brutal honesty.

“I’m an open book for my people. I don’t hide things. I don’t want them to feel like I am a magical unicorn. I want him to feel like I’m the person next door that can say, ‘Hey, can you help me really quick,'” she added, “I try to stay away from all the things that make people turn off from MLM, and because we were able to do that, we became really accessible to a lot of people that would have never said yes to it.”

Be yourself and share sparingly about the product, and people who know, like and trust you will begin to lean in and listen.”

I’d love for you to read the entire article and see five more things I believe were a big part of my success!

How This Mom Hits 7-Figures a Month Using Social Media

I hope this article is helpful, and most of all, I hope you can use some of the tips to reach your desired success!

How I Grew My Business Into A 7-Figure Income

December 8, 2017 by Lindsay Teague Moreno Leave a Comment

Recently Kelsey Humphreys asked me to sit down for an interview about my business, and we talked about a lot of things, but mainly how I grew my personal income to 7-figures, in two years, using only social media.

I was so pumped to be asked and am really excited to share this interview with you guys!

Have you heard of Kelsey?

She’s this hilarious writer, speaker, and entertainer who interviews crazy successful people, like Tony Robbins and Seth Godin, online.

You can check out her work here:

Kelsey Humphreys

Here are just a few of the questions Kelsey asked me:

  1. What to do in your first two years of business that will skyrocket you to success? I walked in and looked at what everyone else was doing and decided to do the exact opposite. I don’t consider myself an MLM person and I didn’t want to run my business that way. I’ve never read an MLM book, or listened to MLM podcasts, or take advice from MLM people. I didn’t want to attract the people that worked for, so I did things like sharing my paycheck because most MLM people hide theirs. I unpacked the compensation plan and told everyone on my team how it worked. Really, I ran my business like a Fortune 500 company and figured out how I could train a stay-at-home Mom who had a strong desire to do more in life.
  2. How to motivate your team to perform at a high level? If you can spark some type of excitement in people, it spreads so fast. If you’re having your best day ever, it will be your team’s best day ever too. My group knows that I love what I do every single day and it’s a privilege to do it. I work for them and am always asking “what can I do for them?” Because I have this service attitude, I think people want to do for me, just like they do for themselves. That gets replicated down the line because I have the best group of givers on the planet. I really want all the success for them and so I gave every ounce of what I had to them.

There is so much more and you can watch the whole video here:

My Tell All Interview on The Pursuit!

I hope you’ll check it out and I hope you can glean something from it that helps you reach the success you desire.
